On Thursday, April 9, 2026, ModCorr proudly completed the final skid placement at Johnson State Prison, marking the completion of our work for the Georgia Department for Corrections. From contract signing in June 2025 to this incredible milestone in April 2026, we were able to design, manufacture, and deliver more than 100 skids in under a year. In the last 10 months, we have successfully erected eight MaxMods and one Medically Intensive Infirmary (MII) to support the Georgia Department of Correction’s efforts to meet and exceed capacity demands at five different established facilities--Dodge, Hays, Lee, Johnson, and Montgomery Prisons.

The completed Medically Intensive Infirmary spans 4,837 square feet and is comprised of seven skids designed to support advanced medical care within a correctional setting. The space features an open patient care area, observation cells, nurses' stations. Along with controlled access areas, including a sally port and a mechanical room, essential support spaces such as offices, restrooms, a breakroom, a physical therapy room, and an x‑ray room have been incorporated into the unit's design.

The final skid, number 111, was set using a crane with a 290‑foot boom, which is just 10 feet shy of the length of a football field. Each skid weighed between 60,000 and 103,000 pounds and required a carefully coordinated lift through the parking lot, up a hill, and over a fence to be placed within the secured perimeter. To ensure stability during placement, a series of 20,000‑pound counterweights were utilized to accommodate wind, weight, and swing; each skid was subsequently aligned by hand to achieve precise positioning.

This milestone reflects the dedication, coordination, and expertise of everyone involved and underscores ModCorr’s ability to deliver complex, high‑impact facilities with precision. The successful completion of Johnson State Prison’s infirmary represents a meaningful step forward in our mission to revolutionize the corrections industry. Every member of our team, from those in the field to those in the office, has played an important role in this accomplishment and should be incredibly proud of the impact they've made.

Our president, Buddy Johns, put it best: "The foundation has been laid. The path ahead is clear.  Now we build what’s next."
